Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry
And
Day Treatment Services

Located at UTMB's Rebecca Sealy Hospital on Galveston Island, Inpatient and Day Treatment programs provide emotional, behavioral and psychosocial services for children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 18.

Inpatient Services:

This program provides 24 hr. 7 day per week service to those children and adolescents in need of continuous treatment and monitoring. The unit is structured to provide a safe and therapeutic environment. The treatment team is comprised of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and rehabilitation therapists who specialize in child and adolescent services. Treatment services include:

Individual Therapy

Medication management

Group Therapy

Therapeutic Recreation

Family Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Social Services

Education/School Program

Day Treatment Services:

This program is designed to provide services to those children and adolescents who require intensive treatment but not on a 24 hr basis. Children and adolescents will be admitted to the program as an alternative to hospitalization or as part of their transition from inpatient to outpatient treatment. Patients will be involved in an intensive treatment program that will help stabilize them and move them to a higher level of functioning. These patients return home in the evening to a structured environment.
