Forensic Services

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Sargi Sharma to its faculty. Dr. Sharma is board-certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and forensic psychiatry. A 2004 graduate of Yale University, Dr. Sharma is experienced in both criminal and civil cases and has significant courtroom testimony experience.

Dr. Sharma earned her medical degree from Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana, India, in 1996. She then completed clinical clerkships at the University of Texas Medical Branch, her residency in psychiatry at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich., a child and adolescent fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center where she served as Chief Resident, and her forensic psychiatry fellowship at Yale University where she trained under renowned Yale psychiatrist and Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical Professor of Law, Howard Zonana, M.D..

Dr. Sharma belongs to the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Academy of Psychiatry an the Law.

Dr. Sharma has made numerous presentations on a wide variety of topics including juvenile competency. postpartum disorders, and biological theories of mood disorders.
