Community Outreach
County Mental Health Services-Gulf Coast Mental Health and 
      Mental Retardation(MHMR)
  
   Coordination of treatment and discharge planning for hospitalized clients
      Physician services-Our Faculty Doctors provide inpatient and outpatient services  
       to MHMR clients suffering from persistent and severe mental illnesses. 
      This service fosters continuity of care and quality outcomes.

Family and Patient Support Organizations
National Alliance for the Mentally Ill-Gulf Coast (NAMI)
      NAMI is a coalition of families and friends building a strong foundation for persons with    
      mental illness.
      NAMI offers support, education, and shared information at monthly meetings in the
      Galveston/Brazoria County area, through the national headquarters, and through the state
      organization NAMI Texas. If a member of your family or a friend is mentally ill, NAMI urges
      you to join its membership.

Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association
      The mission of the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association is to educate
      patients, families, professionals, and the public concerning the nature of depressive and
      manic-depressive illnesses ad treatable medical diseases; to foster self-help for patients and
      families; to eliminate discrimination and stigma; to improve access to care; and to advocate
      for research toward elimination of these illnesses.
